Footstones also known as flush grave markers, are memorials set into the grass with only the top showing. Placed at the foot of the grave, in times past footstones held only the initials and year of death of the departed. Today a footstone may simply mark the foot of a grave, serving as a boundary marker for the grave plot and having additional information than the headstone. Some cemetaries now prefer, and even require, the footstone style of marker.
At Laurentian Monument, Granite, & Stone of Virginia, MN we have a long history of providing cemetery markers and can help you with your decision.
